Come Saturday Morning
I’m remembering a song I used to sing called Come Saturday Morning. “Come Saturday Morning I’m going away with my friends. We’ll Saturday spend till the end of the day.” I have a Saturday with nothing on my calendar. How will I spend it? There are aways things like laundry that need caught up and those vegan oat burgers I’ve wanted to make all week. A mosaic that needs more work. Some new board games my kids got and wants to play. Nothing extraordinary.
Trinket the dog and I just returned from a walk to get an almond milk latte from the Shop down the street. Now we are sitting on the porch enjoying a cool summer morning. I don’t want readers to think because of the variety of posts that I’m constantly busy. Yes my life is full but I intentionally leave empty space where I can do nothing. I love this quote from that silly old bear named Poo.
“Doing nothing
often leads to
the very best
of something.”
I have found this to be true. When I’m too busy very little creativity happens. To be creative you need to allow for creative space in your life. It’s ok if it’s a little uncomfortable. Some of us have been programmed to believe that we are only valuable for what we do. I’m here to tell you you are are treasure and greatly loved and valued by God not because of what you can do but because God created you. I like to think that in being creative that I am in small ways being like God who made this incredible planet for us and filled it with wonderful things. A God who created Zebra’s, giraffe’s and people as individually unique as snowflake is not dull or boring.
