Bingo on A Bus - The Adventure Continues
Not quite a month ago I got a text from my friend Bill. He works for Visit Spokane and they had gotten a request from a tour company needing extra tour guides, for a one day job taking a bunch of people by bus to some essential oil farm. They needed to hire tour guides for 11 busses to essentially greet people as they got on an off the bus and to play bingo during the hour and a half long ride to the farm. Plus pass out snacks and tell them a little bit about Spokane. Sounded fun and easy. Im in!
I was able to clear my schedule to make it work, so I called and told the contact person that I was interested. She wanted to know if I was comfortable talking in front of people. That was an easy yes.

So the day of the event arrived and I got to the Davenport Grand Hotel at the appointed time and got my two yellow back packs. One full of prizes and bingo supplies the other with snacks. I found out that I was assigned to bus number 7.
My bus held 53 very excited people who were Young Living distributers who had won this week long trip to Spokane. They were staying at the Davenport Hotel and had special training sessions, dinners, white water rafting and this trip to the original Young Living Farm in St. Maries, Idaho.
On the bus I shared about Spokane and I was very thankful that my bus driver knew a lot more than me and chimed in with other interesting tid bits. I was instructed to start bingo about 30 minutes into the drive. I had passed out the bingo cards and pens as people got on the bus. In the bag I had 25 prizes of various Young Living oils and products. I was really hoping that there would be one left over but all were claimed. There were some sweet ladies from Georgia in the seat across from mine and I hung out with them part of the day for the various activities.

Once we arrived at the farm the tour guides were invited to join in the tours and activities. You can see my photos that I took while there. It was a perfect weather day and the farm was beautiful. I was blown away that the founder had chosen this beautiful remote piece of un farmed property at the top of a mountain so that other farms chemicals would not contaminate his farm. As I learned later they use no pesticides or chemical fertilizers and yet their fields were pristine and totally weed free. I've got to say I was blown away by the attention to detail and quality at every step from the seed to the bottles of oil that people purchase.
The large group was broken in to 3 some what smaller groups of probably 75 to 100 people. Each group then headed off in different directions to the Distillery, the Lavender fields, or the Green Houses. We did one of the tours and then had an amazing lunch with two tours following. I say the lunch was amazing because there were things I could actually eat. They actually had plant based options. I had packed a lunch but didn't need it. Even the non plant based options were very health and environmentally conscious. They used organic vegetables and had options for folks with gluten intolerance.
After lunch I headed to the lavender fields where we were given little silk bags to fill with lavender to take home with us. While I was off by myself picking my lavender Shannon came up and said she had enjoyed my bus touring on the way to the farm. We ended up visiting and made what I will call a God ordained connection. Rather than hand me a business card she got my name and friended me on Facebook and I took a photo of her with her name tag.
I told her that I had not wanted to be part of a sales organization and had been buying my oils from another company. I actually have a pretty large collection of over 60 oils from various sources that I use personally and in my massage practice.
Since that trip we have stayed in touch and gotten to know each other better. I've asked questions and she has given answers and ideas. We've discovered that we have a lot of very similar interests.
We have genuinely been interested in one another's lives and posts. I have not felt pressured in any way to join Young Living. The more I have thought about the opportunity to go on the trip and that my Bingo on The Bus pay check would cover the starter kit. The more I thought about the connection made with Shannon the more I have seen the finger prints of God all over this.

Today my Bingo on the Bus check finally arrived and I deposited it in my bank and came home and signed up to be a Young Living member. I can hardly wait for my box to arrive and to begin each month trying new products.
