Starting my Micro Garden Adventure

Giant Paper Flowers
Miniature paper flowers
I have never been much of a gardener. In fact I have struggled to keep even the most hardy houseplants alive. But this has been an area that I’ve wanted to grow in. So rather than continue to garden by creating miniature paper flower gardens in coffee creamer cups or make giant paper flowers.  This year I have experimented with container gardening and hydro gardening. While not all have worked out like I had hoped. I measure success a little differently, for me I have learned things with each failure. Learning in my mind is a success even if at times the lesson learned come with pain or required some personal sacrifice. I want to live fully and not just watch people do interesting things.

My Salad Garden from seeds I planted
I like to think of my life as a kind of living art work. Rich with texture and shading and beautiful colors. There is so much to explore and every day, even those most mundane in nature there is an opportunity to learn and grow in some new way. Perhaps it is kindness or patience that you need to grow and work on. It't different for each of us. I do find that lessons learned in one area often carry over into other areas.

This summer I have been learning about gardening. I know that I have to water my plants on the porch just about every day. I know that too much sun is a problem for some. I know that basil does not like to get its leaves wet. It took me three plants to figure out that mystery.

Things I've grown from seeds.
I've been thinking about doing some micro gardening. Because it would be wonderful to have fresh greens to enjoy all year round. In micro gardening you get all the nutrients of the full grown plant in a concentrated form.  The little mini beet shoots taste like beets. Micro corn tastes like corn. Its really pretty amazing.

My seed library
To me the idea that God has hidden things for us to discover in creation is amazing and fills me with a sense of wonder. The idea for example that peppermint essential oil can settle the stomach, or soothe a headache or cool you on a hot day is remarkable.  I've only just scratched the surface of what one can do with peppermint oil.

Waiting for seeds.

Thanks for stopping by "Simply Margot " is me sharing the things that I enjoy doing and hopefully encouraging you to live your own life as Simply You and do the things that are uniquely you that bring you and others around you joy.
